Podcast #2 turned out to be much more difficult than I anticipated Podcast #1 to be. Here's how it went.
Production was fairly simple over all since I knew about how much information I was going to need to have - there was little to no adlibbing. Also, my group and I were much more familiar with the camera and framing the shot was no issue at all. What problems we did run into came primariliy on the editting side and were caused because of how we did the filming. We thought that it would be neat to have a different scene in the background, and thus we chose to film at a local coffee shop. Unfortunately some folks came and sat outside with us and talked loudly through our entire filming session. When you add the traffic noise on top of the talking, the result is poor audio. We will not make that mistake next time!
On the editting side - I obviously fought the audio. I anticipated being able to put my film into garage band and edit the background noise out. That didn't happen. Other than audio, just getting the podcast editted together proved to be very difficult. My group and I tried to edit at the library - which did not have an updted edition of IMovie or any edition of Photoshop for that matter. That being said, I obviously had to do most of the editting in the class lab and it took the majority of the alotted time. The total editting process took aproximately 6+ hours, so roughly twice the amount of time that we sprnt on Podcast #1.
Having this second podcast completed I have learned that there are good ideas and bad ideas when it comes to filming locations. We will definately film in a quite place next time. I hope that Podcast #3 is even better than #1 or #2. To check out Podcast #2 click on the YouTube Video below.

Brandi-
I enjoyed the new setting, and the discussion you had about CSR. You did a good job with your editing; I understand the tough job of editing you had with the complication of horrible background noise.
For the next one I would definitely suggest a different location where the volume/interference can be controlled.
I like the transitions you used between your discussion of certain key areas of CSR and the use of text; it made it easy to follow along and have an understanding of what you were discussing. The use of parallel transitions also made the podcast very ‘clean’ in my opinion. You did a good job of balancing the slides/text with the amount of face time you had in the video.
In regards to the topic I enjoyed the real life examples you provided, it was interesting to learn about the Ford campaign (I wasn’t aware) and to see a few campaigns I did already have information about.
Another suggestion I would have is with your fades, make sure you are done with the phrase before you fade out- I found I was distracted from listening to your complete thought by the fade.
Good job, I know that this podcast was more difficult than we expected and you turned a tough situation into a cohesive video!
I enjoyed your 2nd podcast. I didn't know about CSR, but I got the idea from your podcast. I like how you organize. It is really well-outlined. It is clear and easy to follow what you're talking.
It was brief clear explanation with real world example. It helps me to understand what exactly CSR is.
I have some suggestion, some transitions were fade out earlier than your explanation. I was still hear your voice, but video seems already finished. Also, on the camera angle, I will suggest the diagonal angle. So, on your 2nd podcast camera angle, you look and seat toward to right side. It might show that you give comfortable conversation/discussion to viewers.
You did good job!!! I like that you choose some different place not inside building. It's fresh and natural! If there were no noise, that place(coffehause) would be perfect. I can't believe that those people keep talking loud during your filming. I'm not saying they should not talk...but...
anyway...I'll look for your next podcast, great job:)
You’ve got two major issues here—audio and framing. Given the direction you are looking, you should have been framed to the right rather than the left. There is a tremendous amount of background noise including both traffic and people talking that make it very difficult to hear what you are saying. Bring the size up on the graphics so that they take up more of the screen. Avoid having large blocks of text on screen. Can you set the slides up so that the points come up as you talk about them? One option here is to use multiple PowerPoint slides. From what I can hear, your vocalization seems good. I don’t hear a lot of umms and ahs. Watch the levels as you come in and out. In a couple of spots you seem to lose the beginning and end of sentences. When possible, write the pauses for the slides into the script so that you leave space and don’t have to worry about fading the audio in and out for the slides.
Brandi--
Overall, I liked your podcast. I learned more about CSR than I had already been aware of. I've looked at it a little from the advertising point of view, so it was interesting to hear about it from more of a PR perspective.
Other people, and yourself, have already commented about the background noise and fading out the audio to quickly at the transitions, so I'll not tlak about that more here. I did like the idea of the new location. And, I must say you're brave for taping in such a public place. I don't know that I would have had the nerve. I prefer to hide in my house. :)
As far as positives go, I thought you did a great of job organizing your material. It was very logical and straightforward. I also thought that your talking and delivery was very natural and unscripted. I think those are great attributes to have.
I also liked the transitional slides and slides that had the text of your audio on them. They worked really well as subtitles when the background was extra loud. I think that's a great way to solve that problem.
As far as your editing drama goes...I was right there with you. Hopefully, it will get better soon.

Brandi--
One other thing I forgot...sorry for the late review/comment. Procrastination got the better of me.
Wendy
Brandi,
Sorry for the late comment, like Wendy, I didn't realize that I was supposed to be commenting on every podcast! My bad! Anyways, I like that you changed venue for your podcast, although anytime you stray from a confined situation, background noise will be a problem. I think there is a fine balance between being in a stark white room so that you can control everything yet be too uptight for the viewer to follow you, and to be at a coffee shop where you feel natural but the viewer can't hear you. I think you did a fine job at handling that though because the noise was easy to decipher from your voice.
Also, as far as planning on editing out background noise...good luck with that, I've NEVER had good luck at getting background noise to go away. Really, the only sounds that are easily edited out are things like jets, car horns, and persistent high pitch sounds. Talking is super hard to get rid of.
Overall, I think your podcast was really well done. I enjoyed learning more about CSR!
